With great anticipation along with a few nerves, the Minutemen are back on the field. Not only do we have a new and cooler grass turf, “‘Natha Nation” is also sporting a new group of players, eager to prove themselves to the coaches and other seasoned Minutemen.

Today was Picture Day for Maranatha Football. From 8:00 to 10:30am, the Minutemen Team, coaches and support, all met on the field to capture everyone’s pearly whites and game faces.

Boys Hold Heads High After Big Loss

Maranatha–high-school–football-linfield-9-25-2015They were fast, smart and big–and I mean really big!

Linfield Christian were an awesome group of young men to watch. Two of their players towered in the 6’4′ to 6’8″ range. Their kicker consistently launched precision 50-plus-yard field goals; quite frankly, it was said that “Linfield was a better team.”

Despite the devastating downpour of Linfield’s power, our own Minutemen still showed character and displayed an impressive amount of integrity throughout the battle on Friday night.

They all did an exceptional job defending their goal against the Bigs, but in the end lost 0-45.

Minutemen show up but lose to Arcadia 21-20

JTP-maranatha-high-school-football-arcadia2-1The Minutemen were able to hold their own against the Apaches through most of the game. After a series of tough calls, Arcadia pulled ahead to win 21-20.
JTP-maranatha-high-school-football-arcadia-JV-1According to Coach Bogan, it was still a good game. During the post game huddle, Coach assured the players that he is still proud of them and that they played extremely well.

JTP-DDs-Chick-and-Cat-Shack-1Can’t forget the halftime Southern American cuisine of DD’s Chick and Cat Shack!

In support of the MHS Boosters, JV parent, David McClendon, supplied fans with his world famous, Southern chicken and cat fish.

DD’s is a full service caterer, specializing in good, home-town cookin’, from smoked brisket to spicy shrimp po’ boy sandwiches .

But the staple of DD’s Chick & Cat Shack is the Dirty Tea. Along with their Cherry Lemonade and Swamp Water mix, people come far and wide just for a cup-full to drink with their food. Check it out!

Varsity’s first season loss was tough for the Minutemen, but according to the coaches, the players still did well against one of Maranatha’s more difficult rivals. The boys never gave up, and that makes all the difference.

Photography Help

I handed over an extra camera to the Managers to take pre-game photos of the sidelines. I thought they all did a great job. The last nine shots are credited to Managers. Excellent work, ladies!

JV and the difficulty of defeat

Maranatha–high-school–football-san-dimas-saints-JVThursday’s score against San Dimas: 66-0 San Dimas.

Winning comes at a cost, and sometimes we need to loose a battle in order to learn how to win the war. Although football is not war, it is a series of battles against our personal weaknesses and learning how to overcome as a team. There’s always next week…!
